Beer Bloggers Conference 2010 Virtual Colorado Beer Tasting.
So, the first ever Beer Bloggers Conference is leading up the first ever Virtual Colorado Beer Tasting. Here’s what they have to say about it:
The tasting will take place Thursday, September 9th, at 7:30 PM Mountain Standard Time. Beer drinkers, beer bloggers, and beer journalists across the continent are invited to purchase your favorite Colorado beers, crack them open all at the same time, and then write, blog, Facebook, and Tweet about them.
So that’s what this is. My choice: Left Hand‘s Oktoberfest, a Marzen Lager. Here’s a picture:
My thoughts (as done by fancy pants reviewers):
Appearance
Orange-amber. Reminds me a bit of scotch. Fairly translucent. Barely any head; the small ring is white and only lives around the edge of the glass.
Smell
Like it should be sweet. Hints of alcohol and a gentle funkiness.
Taste
Flavors are subtle. Somewhat sweet and malty. Kind of like bread. Aftertaste has sort of a hay flavor, but not in a bad way.
Mouthfeel
Medium body. Not too thick, but it sticks around afterward. I can see right through it if that’s any indication.
Drinkability
The alcohol content, which I can note slightly by taste, I would assume is low enough that I could put away a few of these. There’s enough flavor to make having multiple pints appealing, but there isn’t so much flavor that I’d burn out on it. I do wonder about the aftertaste, if it would sort of collect and build in the mouth.
[NOTE: Yes, I did pre-write all the non-tasting parts. Sue me.

Nice, Andrew. Thanks for participating!
